NKT Festivals

Every year NKT-IKBU organises three International Festivals – the Spring and Summer Festivals held at Manjushri KMC, and the Fall Festival held at different locations around the world.

Taught by the Spiritual Director and Deputy Spiritual Director of NKT assisted by other senior Teachers of the tradition. these are the highlights of the Kadampa calendar.

The Festivals are open to everyone, regardless of experience, and may be attended in their entirety or for just one or more days.

The Buddhist Way of Loving Kindness

Gen-la Dekyong will grant the blessing empowerment of Green Tara, our common holy Mother. Receiving this empowerment connects us directly with Tara, the ‘Rescuer’, who quickly protects us from all fears and dangers. She will then give teachings based on Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s much loved book Eight Steps to Happiness: the Buddhist Way of Loving Kindness.

We need to learn to cherish all living beings because this precious mind of love is the supreme method for solving all problems and fulfilling all wishes, and will eventually lead to the supreme happiness of enlightenment. Gen-la Dekyong will encourage us to take Venerable Geshe- la’s advice to heart and strive to become real Kadampas who remove negativity from the world and give back love and kindness.

There will be four days of empowerment and teachings by Gen-la Dekyong, with a senior Teacher leading guided meditations. This will be followed by two days of retreat, providing an opportunity to take the teachings to heart and deepen our experience of the practice. The Festival begins with an introductory teaching on the Friday evening (18th) and finishes at lunchtime on the Wednesday (23rd).
